How to Fold a Terry Cloth Bathrobe
A terry cloth bathrobe is soft and fluffy, so it can take up a lot of space when you store it. To maximize your storage space, follow these simple steps to fold your terry robe.
Step 1: Lay Your Robe Down on a Flat Surface
Find a large, flat surface where you can comfortably fold the terry cloth bathrobe. Lay your robe down so that the sleeves are flat on the sides and the robe’s opening is on top.
Take the right open side of the robe and lay it flat down midway. Then, take the left open side of the robe and lay it flat down midway as well.
It’s normal for some overlap between the left and right side of the robe. If there’s embroidery on one side of the robe, that’s the side that should go on top.
Tip: Make sure to smooth down the robe as you go along to ensure maximum crispness.
Step 2: Lift the Robe
Clasp all the layers of both ends of the robe from the middle. To do this, you simply need to:
- Use one hand to clasp the middle of the robe from the top or collar area.
- Use your other hand to clasp the middle of the robe from the bottom.
You should have a good grip on both ends of the middle of the robe. Once you do, lift it up so that both sides, along with the sleeves, are hanging down.
As you hold it from the middle, make sure both sides of the robe and its sleeves are aligned. It should look like the robe is folded lengthwise and in half while you’re holding it up.
Step 3: Lay the Robe Down, Back Side Up
Lay down the lengthwise-folded robe on the surface again. Both sleeves should be on the left side when you lay it down.
The opening flaps may get wrinkled as you lay down the robe, so make sure they’re smoothed out before proceeding. Take the folded half of the robe and unfold it.
The robe should be laying flat on the surface again and there should be a sleeve on the right and left side. At this point, you should be working with the back side of the robe.
Smooth out the robe. Make sure all the creases are as flat as they can be.
Step 4: Fold the Sleeves
Take the right sleeve and bring it to the left side of the robe. Lay it down flat and smooth it out.
Take the left sleeve and bring it to the right side of the robe. It should lay flat and on top of the right sleeve.
Step 5: Insert the Belt
Take the belt and make sure it isn’t twisted. Insert it into the belt loops at the back of the robe (there should be two or three belt loops at the back).
Make sure the belt is straight and flatly inserted into the loops. Adjust the belt to make sure the excess on the right and left side of the robe are close to the same length.
Take the excess belt on the right and fold it towards the left side of the robe. Make sure it’s parallel to the belt inside the loop.
Leave the excess belt on the left hanging on the side. Don’t worry though, you’ll use it later on.
Step 6: Fold the Robe Lengthwise in Thirds
Take the right side of the robe and fold it a third of the way in. Do the same for the left side.
The left side should lay flat on top of the right side of the robe. After folding the left side, the excess belt should now be hanging on the right side.
Step 7: Fold the Robe Crosswise in Thirds
Take the bottom of the robe and fold it a third of the way in. Repeat the fold one more time.
After folding it in thirds, your robe should look compact. The excess belt should still be hanging on the right side of the robe.
Use your hands an apply downwards pressure on the robe. This will help smooth out the robe and remove any air pockets.
Step 8: Secure the Robe with the Excess Belt
Turn the robe around so that the collar is on top. Take the excess belt and make sure it’s straight and flat.
Bring the belt across the robe and tuck it in between folds. This will help hold your robe in place while it’s in storage.
Step 9: Fix the Collar
Pop out the collar the way you would if you were wearing the robe. If there are any visible tags in the collar area, make sure they’re flat.

How to Roll a Bridesmaid Robe
When folding a bridesmaid robe, you want to make sure you showcase its design while being mindful of its delicate nature. Rolling it is also a great way to package the garment as a present.
Step 1: Lay Your Robe on a Flat Surface
Lay the bridesmaid robe on a large, flat surface. The sleeves should be flat on the sides and the robe’s opening on top.
Take the right opening of the robe and lay it flat down mid way. Then, take the left opening and lay it flat down mid way as well.
The left side may slightly overlap the right side. Smooth out the robe with your hands to remove wrinkles.
Step 2: Fold the Sleeves
Both sleeves should be folded across the front of the robe. First, take the right sleeve and fold it to the left side.
Next, take the left sleeve and fold it over the right sleeve. Don’t forget to smooth down each sleeve before and after each fold.
Step 3: Make a Rectangle
Fold the robe lengthwise and in half. Adjust the fold until you make a rectangle.
Your rectangle should be very flat. Use your hands to smooth out the rectangle.
Tip: If the bridesmaid robe has decorative text, make sure to adjust the fold so the text is in the center of the rectangle.
Step 4: Roll Tightly
Roll the top of the robe until you reach the midpoint. Then, roll the bottom of the robe until you reach the top roll.
Remember, the front side of the robe should be on top while you’re rolling. If your bridesmaid robe has decorative text, flip it over to check if the text is showcased.
Tip: Make sure to roll your robe tightly to prevent it from unraveling.
Step 5: Tuck in the Belt
Neatly fold the belt. Make sure it’s short enough to fit in between the rolls.
Then, tuck the belt in between the rolls. To help keep the robe in place, you can also use a sticker to connect the two rolls together.
Tip: If you’re trying to figure out how to fold a robe for a gift, try rolling it! It’s a great way to present the robe and you can even tuck in a personalized note in between the rolls.
